Want to know a little about how I got into yoga ?
I discovered yoga at a time in my life when I felt a little overwhelmed.
I had young children,a dog and a husband who was working away on business trips quite a lot.
I never seemed to have enough time to take care of myself.
I was exhausted most of the time!
I felt that I was giving and doing for others but neglecting my own needs.
But I did not realise this at first.
I don't think I was still or quiet enough to really tune in to what my body, mind or heart needed.
I had lost touch with myself.
Kind of forgotten who I was for a while.
Taking care of my family and my home was ( & is ) very important to me, but I was not taking care of
Yoga allowed me this "time out" to re-connect and take care of myself for a little while at least .
And this "little while" of yoga time began to fill me, recharge my energy,make me feel better in
Life seemed to run more smoothly.
I felt lighter, more spacious and happier in myself.
It all starts with us FIRST.
If we feel good ,then those around us will feel that "goodness" too!
It's the Magic Ripple Effect of Yoga!
It might sound a bit selfish, but I really needed to get away at times just for a little while at least to
help find myself again and reconnect,recharge my energy so that I could tackle my responsibilities in
a more loving,caring way with out getting overwhelmed.
It allowed me to slow down.
I was able to tune in to how my body, mind and heart was feeling.
I was able to be my authentic self.
I was able to get from my practice exactly what I needed.
I could rest, relax, laugh or cry if that was the release I needed on that particular day.
I saw that through practice I was getting stronger and more flexible.
Through breathwork, movement and guided meditations I discovered the many healing benefits of
this practice and how it helped me to de-stress and have more energy to be a nicer mother and wife!
Sometimes ,although we may be busy and have many people around us ,we still feel alone.
Practicing yoga allowed me to find a community .... a little "sacred sanctuary" where I could connect
with like minded women.
