My Art Journey
Finding My Way Back to Colour
Art has always been something that I have enjoyed.
I studied Art & Design as part of my Bachelor of Education Degree back in 1984, and creativity has always been a part of who I am.
Life took me on a beautiful adventure — I taught in primary schools, travelled the world, got married, started a family, and discovered my love for Yoga. Somewhere along the way, my paints and brushes were tucked away as Yoga became my main focus.
A Time of Change
During the stillness of Covid, life took another turn — I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
It was a challenging and transformative time, but through it, I found my way back to art.
I started painting again — no rules, no pressure, just colour, emotion, and lots of play.
It was healing. Comforting.
It felt like coming home.
It helped settle my nervous system as I made marks etc with no judgement or expectations.
Art as Healing
Now, my art is part of my practice ....it is a form of meditation for me.
I love exploring colours, textures, and movement — often making a joyful mess in my little basement studio!
Each brushstroke feels like an expression of gratitude and freedom. There is no right or wrong ... no rules as I 'play'& explore the materials in front of me.
My art is deeply connected to my Yoga practice — both bring stillness, flow, and presence.
Creating and Sharing
I offer weekend workshops that combine Yoga, Meditation & Art — practices where we move, breathe, and create freely together.
You can also visit my small art gallery at Gurjinder Yoga & Art Studio, where I display my original mixed-media paintings and prints.
Each piece of art work tells part of my story — through colour, energy, texture and light.
Come visit, you are so welcome to pop in to experience my art & the energy of this beautiful space. All paintings and prints are for purchase but there is no pressure ....You could simply stop by for tea and a chat.
Please book a time for viewing.
